Crocheva began at a kitchen table, with one tangled skein and a stubborn wish to understand every stitch instead of just copying it. That curiosity became a habit, the habit became a notebook, and the notebook became this site — a home for free crochet patterns written the way we always wanted to read them.

How we write a pattern

  • Everything up front. Hook, yarn weight, yardage, gauge and materials sit in a pattern card at the top.
  • One step at a time. Every round and row has its own numbered block, so you can find your place again after a break.
  • Notes for real life. Where a stitch tends to trip people up, we stop and explain it.
  • Made for paper too. Each pattern prints as a tidy sheet for your project bag.

Free, with one small ask

Our patterns are free for personal use, and you're welcome to sell what you make from them. If you share your finished piece, a credit and a link back to Crocheva means the world. Please don't copy, translate or resell the written pattern itself.

Every blanket, beanie and basket starts the same way: with a single loop.
